Governor Polis Makes Appointments to the 23rd and 4th Judicial District Courts

DENVER - Today, the Governor appointed Donna M. Stewart to the 23rd Judicial District Court and Jennifer A. Viehman to the 4th Judicial District Court. The vacancy on the 23rd Judicial District Court is occasioned by the retirement of the Honorable Robert Lung and is effective October 1, 2025. The vacancy on the 4th Judicial District Court is occasioned by the retirement of the Honorable David L. Shakes and is effective September 30, 2025.


Donna M. Stewart

Ms. Stewart is a Magistrate in the 23rd Judicial District, a position she has held since 2025. Her docket consists of domestic relations matters. Previously, she was a Magistrate in the 18th Judicial District (2020-2025); City Prosecutor for Central City (2018-2019); Relief Prosecutor for the City of Englewood (2018-2019); Public Defender for the cities of Long Tree, Castle Rock, and Cherry Hills (2010-2019); Solo Practitioner at the Law Office of Donna M. Stewart, LLC (2009-2019); Associate at Folkestad Fazekas Barrick & Patoile, P.C. (2007-2009); Associate at Slade & Associates (2006-2007); and Deputy District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office (2001-2006). Ms. Stewart earned her B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1997 and her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2001.

 

Jennifer A. Viehman

Ms. Viehman is the Chief Deputy District Attorney in the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, a position she has held since 2021. Her practice consists of criminal prosecution. Previously, she was Senior Deputy District Attorney (2011-2021) and Deputy District Attorney (2004-2011) in the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office; and Prosecutor at the Office of the City Attorney in Colorado Springs (2001-2004). Ms. Viehman earned her B.S. from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 1995, and her J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2001.
